Grants awarded from Sparta Education Foundation
The Sparta Education Foundation Board of Trustees unanimously approved two grants totaling almost $55,000.00 in support of technological improvements for our Sparta, NJ public schools.
The first grant for $31,509.00 is to provide the students and teachers of the Mohawk Avenue School with a mobile wireless computer lab. A mobile computer lab will enable teachers to better meet the growing technological needs of our curriculum and better prepare our students with the skills needed to communicate and collaborate with teachers, peers, and experts both within the building and throughout the world in our growing technological society.
The second grant for $22,200.00 to purchase 10 tablet PCs and 10 wireless projectors, is to expand the pilot use of tablet PCs as an instructional tool to the elementary and middle school teaching staff. Currently, the district is piloting the use of the tablet PCs at the high school. The initial feedback is very positive. The tablets are being used by the teachers (and students) during instruction. Along with the tablet PC, the pilot teachers also receive a wireless projector. The combination allows the teachers to utilize the tablet as an interactive white board.
The Foundation is very proud to make the grant money available to the district for projects that otherwise may not have been possible.
The fundraising of the Sparta Education Foundation through their events, "Pathways to Excellence," "Cabaret on the Boardwalk," and the "Thanksgiving morning Turkey Trot 5K," with the support and the generosity from residents, businesses and corporations who made contributions in support of the Foundation's mission through these events, made their fundraising efforts successful over the last year and a result, these funds became available for our Sparta, NJ public schools.
As the Sparta Education Foundation grows, we will continue to seek out new opportunities for philanthropic support from businesses, corporations and foundations as well as parents and residents. If you would like to get involved in the Foundation's efforts, please call the Foundation at 877-472-1731 x 1 or email us inquiry@SpartaEducationFoundation.org.
